You bought the electric vehicle. Now you want to wake up every morning to a full charge instead of hunting for a public charging station. A dedicated Level 2 home charger is the single best upgrade you can make as a new EV owner — and as one of the few Tesla certified installers in Gainesville, we walk owners through this every week. Here is exactly what to expect.
Why a certified installer matters
Tesla’s certification program trains installers specifically on Tesla charging equipment, wiring requirements, and installation standards. When you hire a certified electrician you get guaranteed compatibility, a code-compliant installation, and the confidence that the job was done right the first time. And because we are a licensed Florida electrical contractor (License #EC13006528), we handle the permits and inspections too.
It works with more than just Tesla
While we are Tesla certified, our installs are compatible with every electric vehicle that uses the standard J1772 connector — Ford, Chevy, Rivian, Hyundai, BMW, Kia, Polestar, and more.
Level 1 vs. Level 2 — the difference you will feel
Your EV comes with a Level 1 charger that plugs into a standard household outlet and adds roughly 4–5 miles of range per hour. A Level 2 charger runs on 240 volts and adds 20–30 miles of range per hour. For most owners, that is the difference between a vehicle that is never quite ready and one that is full every single morning.
What the installation looks like, step by step
- Site assessment. We visit your property to find the optimal charger location — usually in the garage near your panel and parking spot.
- Panel evaluation. We confirm your electrical panel has the capacity for a new 240V circuit.
- Panel upgrade coordination. If you need more capacity, we quote that separately so there are no surprises.
- Circuit installation. We run a dedicated 240V circuit and breaker for the charger.
- Mount and wire. We mount and wire your Tesla Wall Connector or universal charging unit.
- Testing and walkthrough. We fully test the installation and show you how to use it.
Most home EV charger installations are completed in about a day, start to finish.
